Big, bold and beautiful….

Are not the words I would have used to describe myself a few years ago! I’ve decided to create a blog to share my styling journey, as well as share some styling tips and tricks for plussizers. I’m a 40+ plus Londoner who was stuck in a rut trying to figure out exactly what I liked wearing and what suited my ever-changing body. Rarely do these two align 🙆🏽‍♀️😂. I also didn’t know where to buy. But with so many retailers now doing stylish plussize lines with good sizing, I’ve done a 360 and now dress to look good, not just to cover and hide my “unacceptable” body. I now adore that body and flaunt it unapologetically, making up for lost time hahaha.

I started posting on social media as a mood diary because I was fighting depression, with a chronic illness and out of work. I had to find a way to force myself to dress up and turn up! And guess what, I found that it positively changed my mood and confidence! At the same time, I started seeing alot of plussize influencers whose body type I identified with and it definitely inspired me on how to style my body. The body positive movement was gaining traction as well. I started accepting then loving my body more and I’ve never looked back.

Keep dressing up despite the circumstances, it can do wonders for your mood. There’s great loungewear available now. Being at home is not an excuse…. work on your make up or hairstyling skills, be more experimental with colours and styles. In the current climate, we all definitely need to be savvy about purchases. So either use what you already have or be a bargain queen! Bargain does not mean cheap and it also doesn’t mean you should buy all sale items even they look awful just because they’re cheap.

If I can encourage just one woman to love her body more, build her confidence or style herself better, that would mean the world to me as I benefited the same from others. I’m by no means a fashionista but I always try to look good within my means. I still havent figured out what my fashion sense is but what I have definitely discovered is Self-love!

I’d like to share my journey with you where some days I nail it, some days it’s epic fails, sometimes I think I’m 25 and sometimes I dress like I’m at my first job in the late 90s! Sometimes I’m dressed to the nines but sometimes, well most times I’m stuck indoors thanks to Covid and honestly struggling to get the motivation to get dressed let alone take pictures! But all the time my teenagers remind me not to embarrass them whilst I’m just trying to feel good and look good for me, with the money left over from buying them expensive trainers… sigh…. smh.

It’s certainly true, that “it’s more important what you feel than what you look like from the outside” , BUT there is no question of the power that dressing up has, to transform your mood.

I AM big, bold and beautiful.
